Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Sorry - can’t seem to get that EXTREME song outta my head today :) I hope you are all going to see EXTREME tonight, along with KINGS X in Boston at the Bank Of America Pavilion - I am and I can’t wait! Daddy himself is even heading down there tonight to get his EXTREME fix! :)

A BIG, HUUUGE Congrats goes out to Mitch Parker who was the winner of the “Extreme Makeover - GEAR Edition” promo! Mitch had a major need for a makeover - so after seeing EXTREME from the front row tonight, and then meeting the band, Mitch will soon be heading to Daddy’s to spend his $1000 gift card! Congrats Mitch!

Also want to show a bunch of love to our partners in this promo - our great pals over at 100.3 WHEB and specifically to Greg and the Morning Buzz and to JR- we love you, man! And as always, the wonderful folks over at Live Nation New England - especially Melissa Farrington - Director Of Promotions - for hooking Mitch up with the front row seats!

An important message from Nuno Bettencourt

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Hello Everybody. Nuno here. Some of you I speak to frequently. Some of you I have not spoken to in quite a while. Either way I hope that this email finds everyone as happy and healthy as possible in this drama we call life. No one ever said it was gonna be easy….And that’s why I am reaching out to you all today.

Basically…I need your help. A dear friend of mine was diagnosed with Cancer recently. His name is Eugene Silva. He just turned a young 51 on the 4th of July. He is one of the strongest and funniest guys I have ever known. Back in the day he was a bullfighter in Acores.

Those of you who know him… know how much he lights up any room he walks into. But unfortunately as we all know… when we need our insurance companies the most… they always find ways to abandon us. He is married, has a great 16 year old boy and is struggling with medication and treatment payment and the burden is worse as he cannot make a living for his family.

I know its last minute, but I am organizing a friends and family jam on SUNDAY July 27th. At 6pm. At the Brewery Exchange. 201 Cabot St. in Downtown Lowell MA. And all I am asking is that we all… self included donate $20 at the door… or whatever you can give.

For those of us who know him… it’s not much to ask.

For everyone else… this favor would be for me…. and I will not forget it…. and will be indebted to you…. anytime ever in the future you need me and my services for similar reasons… I will do my best to help.

And what you will get that evening?
Just a casual and fun night of catching up…. having some drinks together. Old school.

And anyone who comes and can play any instrument at all… doorbell included…. I promise will come up and jam… nothing fancy… covers…. unrehearsed…. originals…. Portuguese music etc… Everyone plays!!!

I know Gary, Pat or Figg might be there and possibly some local celebs… and a hell of a lot of Bettencourt’s to fulfill your music needs :). And who knows maybe even a SINFUL song might be played if they turn up hahaha.

I will also auction off 1 or 2 of my guitars… as well as tix for the EXTREME BOA show on July 31st. We might even have some hand written lyrics from Steve Perry of JOURNEY… Faithfully or Open Arms to auction.

So invite your family…and tell your friends…its such short notice so I could really use your word of mouth.

Don’t wanna put anybody on the spot. If you can’t make it….no worries. But I think it will be fun.

I hope to see you all…
I know it’s a big ask….but I would’nt ask if it wasn’t really important to me.

Thanx everyone
Nuno

Battle For Berklee Finals Rocked!

Friday, July 18th, 2008

It was an AMAZING night last night at Daddy’s Boston as we held the finals for the “Battle For Berklee” - a guitar competition where the winner walked away with tuition to the Berklee Summer Guitar Sessions Program!

Daddy’s was packed with the guitarists, their family and friends and onlookers! Everyone was incredibly supportive of each other - cheering one another on! While I am sure that the 9 finalists were at least a little bit nervous, especially performing in front of the crowd nevermind the celebrity judges that included Johnny A, Gary Hoey, T Lavitz (Dixie Dregs) and Julien Kasper - but it didn’t show and they ALL did a phenomenal job!

A HUGE congrats goes out to the winner Andrew Trongone of Richmond, VA and huge thank you to all who participated (you all REALLY did a fantastic job and made it difficult for the judges) and helped put this event together including the entire Daddy’s Boston staff (especially Brad who did a kick ass job with sound), the folks at Berklee College of Music, our judges Johnny A, Julien Kasper, T Lavitz and Gary Hoey for taking time out of their busy schedules to judge for us and of course to guitarist Joe Stump who performed at the end of the night!

We will for sure be bringing this back in 2009 and maybe even something for you drummers, bass players and singers! Stay Tuned…..

Only one week left….

Our Customers ROCK!

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

A few months ago, the NH Lottery ran a contest called “NH Lottery Star” - it basically was giving bands/solo artists and opportunity to write a jingle for the NH Lottery - Daddy’s was one of the sponsors of the contest donating a guitar package, a bass package and a 5 piece drum kit as prizes. People were encouraged to go online and vote for their favorite - over 56,000 people voted. The contest is finally over and local NH band “The Barn Boyz” came up as the winners of the gear.

Scott Swanson of the Barn Boyz contact us to let us know that rather than accept the gear as they “have all that we need”, Scott asked if they could donate the gear! How increadible is that!

The Barn Boyz have generously donated their winnings to the charity “Music Drives Us” - a not for profit organization that donates musical instruments and give grants to schools.

On behalf of everyone at Daddy’s and the folks over at Music Drive Us - we really appreciate what the Barn Boyz have done - its not many that would do the same.

Below: Darren Ball, Rick Nicolosi and Scott Swanson from the Barn Boyz pictured with Fred “Daddy” Bramante. Not pictured is Barn Boy Ted Nusbaum (thank you too Ted!)

Coming up….

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

The winner of the finals will receive full tuition ($940 value) scholarship to the Berklee 2008 Summer Guitar Session Program August 17 - 22, 2008 @ Berklee College of Music.
