Service - Shop Tour
This 1930's Gibson L-4 was badly dried out and neglected. It was left in the attic for years with the strings tuned to pitch. As the glue let go, the neck pushed in toward the soundhole bringing the top with it. The finish was dried out as well as many critical braces and glue joints. The sides split, top & back seams opened up, the binding dried out, pieces around the soundhole missing. A real sad mess!
We felt the old girl deserved a second chance in life. When finished with all of the repairs and finish restoration, we were amazed at how beautiful she looked and sounded when strung for the first time. The customer was so happy, they cried! For a luthier, this is the ultimate compliment.
